The people who look after your pet already know their face, their habits, and the particular way they refuse a lead. A thank-you that looks like the animal, signed from the animal, is usually kinder than a generic box of chocolates with no note. On Ottermagic you upload a clear photo, run Pet Swap in Royal Portrait, Watercolour, Chibi, Clay 3D, or Sketch, preview until the markings still read as yours, then print an A5 or send the e-card. Start at Ottermagic.com.

Christmas thank-yous for neighbours, carers, and dog walkers as part of a wider local round sit in Christmas cards for neighbours, carers and dog walkers and neighbour, carer and dog walker Christmas thank-yous. Those pages share the street with other helpers. This one is the pet professionals, including the vet and the sitter, and it is useful in July as well as December.

A Pet Swap card "from" the pet

Pet Swap makes the animal the star. That is the whole point of a walker or groomer card: they did not need a portrait of you. They need to know you noticed the 7am rain walks, the mat in the coat, the night they stayed late.

Styles that suit a thank-you:

  • Royal Portrait when you want a gentle joke (they already treat your mongrel like a duke)
  • Watercolour and Sketch for the vet, and for anyone who would keep the card
  • Chibi and Clay 3D for a groomer who sends you cheerful photos after every clip
  • Classic Cartoon when you want it readable on a staff-room fridge
  • Photobooth if they already take silly snaps of your dog on the round

Skip a mean Caricature of the person. You are thanking them. The pet can be playful; the human should still want to pin the card up.

Live styles: Brick, Chibi, Emoji, Anime, Watercolour, Caricature, Cartoon, Classic Cartoon, Action Figure, Clay 3D, Retro Halftone, Retro Game, Royal Portrait, Pixel Art, Bobblehead, Sticker Sheet, Tarot Card, Photobooth, Sketch, Lucky Leprechaun.

Style Swap restyles a photo of pet-plus-person if you have a frame you are allowed to use, both faces clear. Do not use a candid of the walker from a doorbell camera. Face Swap is for people; keep it off the vet's face unless they have asked to be on a novelty card, which is rare. Text Swap can say "Thank you from Mabel" when the only photo is unkind.

When to give one

Christmas is the obvious week, and a fine one. Other moments land harder:

  • The end of a long stay, when the sitter has had your house keys and your anxious cat
  • After a vet scare, once you can breathe, as a thank-you to a named nurse or vet (not a review of the practice)
  • A groomer who has been patient with a rescue who hates dryers
  • The walker who covered holidays without making you feel guilty
  • The last walk before you move away

If you are adding a small gift, biscuits, a voucher, a bottle, that is between you and their employer. Some clinics and agencies have rules. The card is the part Ottermagic can help with. Pairing a card with a present is covered in a card to go with a present.

Leave working days for UK post: around 3–5 with Royal Mail after you order. If the last day of the sit is tomorrow, take the e-card and print a copy to leave on the hall table. Christmas posting deadlines is the festive timing page.

Message ideas, signed from the pet

Write in a voice you would actually use, then sign the animal's name. Printed inside keeps it neat if several pets are "signing".

Dog walker

  • "Thank you for the rain, the park, and pretending I am well behaved. Love, Mabel."
  • "You had me at 7am. I remain grateful, and still slightly damp. From Mabel, and the humans who sleep in."

Groomer

  • "I looked ridiculous. I also looked clean. Thank you. Love, Arthur."
  • "For the patience with the back legs. From a dog who still hates the dryer."

Vet or vet nurse

  • "Thank you for the quiet hands. We are all sleeping better. Love from Mabel, and from us."
  • "You were kind when we were frightened. That is the whole note."

Pet sitter

  • "The sofa is still yours, apparently. Thank you for staying. Love, the cat."
  • "Keys, plants, anxious lurcher: you handled all three. From our house to yours."

Keep clinic cards short and specific. Skip medical advice, diagnosis jokes, and other people's animals in the background of a waiting-room photo.

After a pet has died

A vet team who sat with you at the end may still want a thank-you. Use a still style: Sketch or Watercolour of a photo you already loved, not a party Pet Swap. Sign from you, not in a chirpy animal voice. One sentence is enough. "Thank you for looking after him at the end. We are grateful." If you are writing to yourself as much as to them, that is allowed.

The memorial guide is pet birthday and sympathy cards. This thank-you can sit beside it. Do not surprise a receptionist with a novelty Bobblehead of an animal they helped you say goodbye to.

UK printed cards are A5 folded (148×210mm), 330gsm gloss, envelope included, printed to order in the UK, posted with Royal Mail in around 3–5 working days, recyclable stock, water-based inks. Blank inside or a printed message.

The e-card is a hi-res, watermark-free download. Useful for a sitter who has already gone home on a train, or a groomer you only speak to by text.

Posters and canvas of a Pet Swap portrait are available if you want a matching gift for the household; check Ottermagic.com for live wall-art details. Christmas wall ideas: pet portrait Christmas gifts 2026.

UK shop checkout is in pounds. Support: support@ottermagic.com (reply within one working day). Preview as a guest; sign in at checkout.

US readers looking for a pet groomer thank-you card can make the same Pet Swap and send the e-card, or print the file to leave at reception. The US shop (prices in dollars) sends the same printed A5 by airmail to US addresses in around 2–3 weeks, untracked, so order about three weeks ahead. If a printed A5 should go to a UK clinic, switch to the UK shop and use that address.

Ready when you are

Say thank you in the pet's face, which is the face they already love. Upload a clear photo, run Pet Swap in Royal Portrait, Watercolour, Chibi, Clay 3D, or Sketch, and keep the preview that still looks like your animal. Print an A5 330gsm gloss card with an envelope, or send the e-card the same day. Start at Ottermagic.com.

FAQ

What should I write in a dog walker thank-you card?

One specific thing they did, then the dog's name. Rain, extra walks, the holiday cover. Print it inside if your handwriting would collapse.

Is a Christmas card for a dog walker enough on its own?

Yes. A gift is extra, and may be restricted by their employer. The Pet Swap card is the part that is clearly about the animal they know.

Can I send a thank-you card to the vet after a scare?

Yes. Keep it short, use Sketch or Watercolour, and address a person if you know their name. Wait until you can write without shaking, if you need to.

How do I sign a pet sitter thank-you from the dog?

"Love, Mabel" under one human sentence. Pet Swap on the front does the rest. Leave the sitter's own face off the card unless they have agreed.
