A leaving card is better when it looks like the person who is leaving, not like a stock office cartoon. The same is true of a team thank-you after a brutal quarter, or a small stack of identical notes from one household. On Ottermagic you upload one clear photo, run Style Swap or Face Swap (Pet Swap if the office dog is the joke), preview until it feels like them, then order as many printed A5 cards as you need, or take the e-card and share the file. Printed cards are 148×210mm folded, 330gsm gloss, envelope included, printed to order in the UK, posted with Royal Mail in around 3–5 working days or sent by airmail to US addresses in around 2–3 weeks. Check Ottermagic.com for today’s prices, then use the basket quantity for extra copies of a design you already like.
One photo, several objects
The hard part of a personalised card is getting the likeness right. Once the preview looks like them, copies are a format question:
- Several of the same A5, for a leaving-do table to pass around, or for a team who each want one to keep.
- One A5 plus an e-card, so someone on parental leave still sees it today.
- The same artwork as a poster or canvas, if they want it in the spare room at home. Check Ottermagic.com for live wall-art details.
You can also run the same photo through more than one style if the desk needs a mix: Sketch for their manager, Clay 3D for the people who sit next to them. That is two designs, not a secret wholesale SKU.
Text Swap covers name-only cards when you should not use a face, or you do not have permission. Ottermagic does Text Swap. Other catalogues, Lookalikey included, may go deeper if you want to browse a huge wall of text-led leaving messages. If you have a photo you are allowed to use, Style Swap and Face Swap plus clear A5 print specs are the stronger reason to stay.
Leaving cards that still feel like a person
Workplace leaving cards split in two.
The group card everyone signs. A Style Swap in Sketch, Watercolour, Cartoon, or Royal Portrait (if they will take the joke) gives the table something to write around. Leave the inside blank for handwriting, which printed A5 allows.
The keepsake one colleague actually wanted to give. Face Swap into a finished scene can work for a close team who already roast each other. Lucky Leprechaun is the named Face Swap-led example. Know the room. A client-facing director may prefer Sketch.
Pet Swap appears more than outsiders expect: the dog who came on Fridays, the cat on the video calls. Use a clear pet photo.
Avoid turning a redundancy or a hard exit into a party figurine. If the mood is careful, Watercolour or Text Swap is safer than Bobblehead.
Live styles: Brick, Chibi, Emoji, Anime, Watercolour, Caricature, Cartoon, Classic Cartoon, Action Figure, Clay 3D, Retro Halftone, Retro Game, Royal Portrait, Pixel Art, Bobblehead, Sticker Sheet, Tarot Card, Photobooth, Sketch, Lucky Leprechaun.
Team thank-yous (without a leaving speech)
Team thank-yous are for the people who stayed: a project shipped, a night shift, a manager who covered. You can Style Swap a single person, or, if you have a clear photo of two or three people who actually sit together, try that photo in Cartoon or Photobooth and keep it only if every face is kind. Busy all-hands group shots usually fail. Better to make a few cards from a few photos than one muddy poster of twelve heads.
Emoji and Sticker Sheet can suit internal thanks that will also travel as an e-card. Royal Portrait is a running joke in some teams and a warning sign in others. Preview with someone who knows them.
If the thank-you is from a company to a customer, ask legal or your manager before you use anyone’s face. A name via Text Swap is often the professional path.
How multiples work in practice
Ottermagic’s basket can carry more than one of the same line. Increase quantity on the design you approved. That is how you get “the same photo on many cards” without re-uploading.
Ordinary checkout is the path for a handful of cards. Live prices sit on Ottermagic.com. If you need a very large stack, email support@ottermagic.com (reply within one working day) and ask what is possible. Prices are in pounds in the UK shop and dollars in the US shop.
Timing still follows the card, not a bulk SLA: around 3–5 working days with Royal Mail for printed A5, or around 2–3 weeks by airmail to a US address. Order ahead of the last day in the office. If they finish on Thursday and you thought of this on Wednesday night, take the e-card (hi-res, watermark-free download) and print locally or show it on a laptop at drinks.
US readers organising a farewell: the US shop sends the same A5 by airmail to US addresses, so order about three weeks before the last day. Closer than that, take the e-card and print or send it locally.
Photos you are allowed to use
An office headshot on the intranet is not automatically yours to restyle.
- Ask the person, or a close colleague, before you upload their face.
- Prefer a photo they already like.
- Face-on, well lit, hair in frame.
- Skip ID-badge crops and tiny LinkedIn thumbnails stretched to fill the square.
- For pets, get permission from the owner, which sounds silly until it is not.
If the first preview feels “almost”, retake or pick another picture. Changing from Brick to Anime will not invent a likeness.
Print facts (the same for one card or six)
- 148×210mm folded (A5)
- 330gsm gloss, envelope included
- blank inside or a printed message
- printed to order in the UK
- posted with Royal Mail to UK addresses, typically around 3–5 working days
- sent by airmail to US addresses, around 2–3 weeks
- recyclable stock, water-based inks
Posters and canvas are available for the keepsake that should hang. Check live details on Ottermagic.com.
The e-card is the file you can send to people who will miss the drinks.
A sensible order of work for a leaving week
- Get a photo, with permission.
- Generate Style Swap (Sketch and one playful option) plus Face Swap only if the team is that sort of team.
- Approve one design for the signed table card; leave the inside blank.
- Order the quantity you need, and read the live total at checkout.
- Download the e-card for anyone remote.
- If they want wall art, check poster and canvas options on the site after the drinks, not in a panic on the last afternoon.
Checkout shows the real total. That is the number to use.
Ready when you are
Make one likeness, then as many cards as the desk actually needs. Upload a photo, run Style Swap or Face Swap, and order the printed A5 (148×210mm, 330gsm gloss, envelope) with a quantity that matches the table. Take the e-card for anyone who will miss the post. Start at Ottermagic.com. Support: support@ottermagic.com (reply within one working day).
FAQ
Can I put the same photo on lots of Ottermagic cards?
Yes. Approve a preview, then increase quantity in the basket, or order that design again. Check today’s prices on the site.
Is there a corporate rate?
For unusual quantities, email support@ottermagic.com. For a normal leaving-do handful, use ordinary checkout.
Should a leaving card be funny?
Only if they would laugh. Sketch and Watercolour keep dignity. Clay 3D and Face Swap scenes are for teams that already have that tone.
What if I cannot use someone’s face?
Use Text Swap with their name, or a card without a likeness. Other shops may have larger text-only leaving catalogues. Prefer Ottermagic when a permitted photo exists.
Will twenty cards still arrive in 3–5 working days?
Treat the published window as typical for printed A5, and read the live estimate at checkout. If the last day in the office is inside that window, use the e-card as well.
Can the whole team appear on one card?
Only if the photo is clear and everyone looks like themselves. Large group shots usually fail. Several cards from several photos is kinder.
