An Ottermagic e-card is a hi-res, watermark-free download of your card artwork, ready after you pay. You save the file, then send it the way you already message people: email, WhatsApp, iMessage or Android Messages, or print it at home. There is no separate Ottermagic chat button to invent. Upload a photo, run Style Swap, Face Swap, or Pet Swap, preview, buy the e-card, download it, then attach that file. Start the design at Ottermagic.com.
This is the practical path. For when a file beats a posted card, see digital download greeting cards. For folding it yourself versus the printed A5, see printable PDF vs e-card and A5.
What you actually get
On the storefront the option is labelled E-card. After payment:
- The confirmation page shows a download for each paid e-card: watermark-free, full resolution.
- You can reopen that page for a fresh link. The purchase does not expire.
- A confirmation email also carries download links. Those email links last 7 days. Open your order page any time for new ones.
- Signed-in orders live under your account with the same downloads.
Use the downloaded file, not a screenshot of the website preview. Previews are watermarked until you buy.
You have a non-commercial licence to keep, print, gift, and share the finished card. No resale. If a file will not open, email support@ottermagic.com (reply within one working day). Downloads are not refunded once you have them; that is the live delivery-page rule.
Checkout is in pounds in the UK shop and dollars in the US shop. E-cards work anywhere. The printed A5 (148×210mm folded, 330gsm gloss, envelope) goes to UK addresses with Royal Mail in around 3–5 working days, or by airmail to US addresses in around 2–3 weeks.
Download it first, then share it
A reliable order of operations:
- Finish the preview you would be proud to send. Try Photobooth, Sketch, Clay 3D, or whichever live style suits the photo. Full live list: Brick, Chibi, Emoji, Anime, Watercolour, Caricature, Cartoon, Classic Cartoon, Action Figure, Clay 3D, Retro Halftone, Retro Game, Royal Portrait, Pixel Art, Bobblehead, Sticker Sheet, Tarot Card, Photobooth, Sketch, Lucky Leprechaun.
- Choose E-card at purchase, not only the printed A5, if the file is what you need tonight.
- Pay, then tap Download your card on the thank-you page.
- Save it to Photos or Files so it is not stuck in a browser tab.
- Attach that saved file in the app you actually use.
If you close the tab too fast, sign in and open the order. Fresh links live there. Do not wait on an email link that is more than a week old; go back to the order instead.
Attach the file to a normal email, the way you would send a photo of a cake.
- Keep the original download. Compressing it twice in webmail can soften the faces.
- Write the greeting in the email body. The e-card is the front of the card; it does not magically carry an inside message unless you add one yourself in the email.
- If you also bought a printed A5 with a printed inside line, that printed line is on the paper card, not automatically inside the file.
A short note helps: who it is from, and that the picture is the card. People still open attachments more calmly when the subject is “Happy Christmas from us” rather than an unnamed image.
Save the download to your camera roll or to Files, then attach it in the chat (the paperclip or + control, then the photo or document). Sending it as a photo is fine for a family group. Sending it as a document can keep more of the original file, which is kinder if they might print it.
Do not screenshot the Ottermagic preview and post that. You will send the watermark.
If the group is huge and noisy, a direct chat to the person who should have it is usually kinder than dropping a Face Swap into 40 people without warning.
Messages, iMessage, and similar
Same idea as WhatsApp. Attach the saved image. On iPhone, the file in Photos is the easiest source. On Android, Files or Gallery.
Some chat apps shrink images. If they want to print it, send the original as a file, or mail them a copy as well.
Print at home, or at a local shop
The e-card is also the print-yourself path.
- Print from the download, on heavier paper if you have it.
- A5 folded is 148×210mm if you are aiming at the size of the printed card. US letter is a different rectangle, so expect a crop or a border.
- Let ink dry before you write inside.
- A high-street print counter often beats a tired home printer. Take the phone with the file on it.
You still need an envelope if you are posting the home print. The printed A5 includes one; the e-card does not.
Posted card versus the e-card
You can buy both from the same artwork. A printed A5 for grandparents who still meet the postman, and an e-card for the cousin who only opens WhatsApp, is a normal December. Printed cards go to UK addresses with Royal Mail in around 3–5 working days after you order, or to US addresses by airmail in around 2–3 weeks.
For a US address with less than about three weeks to go, the e-card is the one that arrives in time.
Posters and canvas are available if the file looks like wall art. Check Ottermagic.com for live details. For turning a phone photo into the design in the first place, see how to make a personalised card from a phone photo.
If the download misbehaves
- Try the order page rather than the email link.
- Use Safari or Chrome, not an in-app browser inside Instagram if you can help it.
- If the file still will not open, write to support@ottermagic.com with the order number. Replies come within one working day.
Do not pay a second time “to be safe” until you have looked in the account order list.
Ready when you are
Get the file into their chat the same day you like the preview. Upload a photo on Ottermagic, run Style Swap, Face Swap, or Pet Swap, buy the e-card, and download the hi-res, watermark-free artwork. Attach it in email, WhatsApp, or Messages, or print it yourself. If you still have time for the post, you can order A5 330gsm gloss with an envelope as well. Start at Ottermagic.com. Support: support@ottermagic.com (reply within one working day).
FAQ
Does Ottermagic send the e-card to my recipient for me?
No. You download the file and send it yourself. That is the current product: a hi-res download after payment, not a hosted link Ottermagic emails on your behalf.
Can I share a link instead of the image?
Use the file. Share links from the confirmation page are for you to re-download, and they are not a public greeting page for the recipient.
How long do I have to download it?
The purchase does not expire. Revisit the confirmation page or your order for a fresh link. Email download links last 7 days.
Can I send the same e-card to several people?
Yes, you can attach the same file more than once. Stay inside the personal, non-commercial licence (keep, print, gift, share; no resale).
Should I buy the printed card as well?
If they would rather hold 330gsm gloss, and you have time for the post (around 3–5 working days in the UK, around 2–3 weeks to the US), yes. The e-card covers everyone else.
What if I only have a name, not a photo?
Text Swap still produces a designed front you can buy as an e-card. If you later find a photo, Style Swap, Face Swap, or Pet Swap is the stronger Christmas send.
