A Thanksgiving card lands better when the people at the table (or the dog under it) look like themselves, drawn into a look you would actually send. On Ottermagic you upload a clear photo, run Style Swap, Face Swap, or Pet Swap onto a template, preview until it feels right, then order the printed A5 (148×210mm folded, 330gsm gloss, envelope included), sent by airmail to a US address in around 2–3 weeks, or take the e-card: a hi-res, watermark-free download you can print locally, email, or show on a screen. For Thursday 26 November, order a printed card by early November; after that, the e-card is the one that arrives in time. Start with a decent photo at Ottermagic.com.

What a photo-to-art Thanksgiving card actually is

Plenty of US card sites let you drop a snapshot into a pumpkin border. Style Swap restyles the photo into a named look, then sits that result on the card. Uncle Ray can turn up as Clay 3D. The cousins can look like a Chibi pair. A couple can land in Photobooth or Sketch. The joke, or the warmth, still reads as them.

Face Swap is useful when the fun is the scene: their face in a finished illustration rather than a restyle of the whole snapshot. Pet Swap does the same job for the household animal, which is often the real host of November. Text Swap is there if you have no photo and still want a name or a short headline on a designed card.

You see a preview before you pay. If the likeness is off, try another photo or another style. Order only when you would be happy to send it.

Styles that feel like Thanksgiving without a clip-art turkey

You do not need a design labelled “Cornucopia 12” for the card to feel seasonal. A kitchen photo plus a strong style is often enough. Live looks worth trying in November include:

  • Photobooth, for the slightly chaotic group snap before anyone sits down
  • Sketch and Watercolour, when you want something quieter for parents or in-laws
  • Chibi and Cartoon, for kids, or for anyone who still draws on the place cards
  • Clay 3D and Bobblehead, when the table likes a novelty that still looks like them
  • Royal Portrait, if someone is carving and you want a little ceremony
  • Emoji, for a thank-you that can travel in a group chat
  • Brick and Action Figure, if they still have a childhood toy box in the basement
  • Classic Cartoon or Caricature, when the family already teases each other in that register

Try two looks. Thanksgiving cards are given one at a time, so the preview that makes you smile first is usually the one to download.

Printed card or e-card in the US

Ottermagic checkout is in pounds in the UK shop and dollars in the US shop. Support is support@ottermagic.com (reply within one working day). US shoppers have two options: the printed A5, sent by airmail, or the e-card: a hi-res, watermark-free download of the artwork.

Use the e-card when you want to:

  • print at a pharmacy, copy shop, or on card stock at home
  • attach the image to a text or email on the day
  • show it on a phone at the table if paper did not make it
  • keep a copy for next year, when the same photo still works

On the storefront the option is labelled E-card.

The printed A5 is a real object: 148×210mm folded, 330gsm gloss, envelope included, blank inside or a printed message, printed to order in the UK, recyclable stock and water-based inks. In the US shop it goes by airmail to US addresses in around 2–3 weeks; in the UK shop, Royal Mail takes it to UK addresses in around 3–5 working days. It is A5, not an American card size. If you want a folded card in someone’s hand in Ohio this week, download the e-card and print it there.

Posters and canvas are available on Ottermagic as wall-art formats of the same Style Swap, Face Swap, or Pet Swap artwork. Check Ottermagic.com for live sizes and details. For a US Thanksgiving, a local print of the e-card is still the fastest way to get something on a fridge.

Who these cards work for

Hosts. A Sketch or Watercolour of the people who actually cooked, sent the night before, reads as a portrait with a date on it.

Guests who need a thank-you. An Emoji or Cartoon of the host, or a Pet Swap of the dog who stole a roll, is a small mail that still feels considered. Send the e-card on Friday if you forgot paper.

Families split across states. One photo, a few styles, then a printed card posted to each US address or a download for everyone.

Pets. Upload a clear photo of the animal who sat under the table. Pet Swap is a first-class path, so you are not squeezing a pet into a people template as an afterthought.

Late senders. Thanksgiving is a Thursday. If you remember on Wednesday night, the e-card is the whole product.

A photo that survives overhead kitchen light

November photos are often taken under warm lamps, with aprons, and with someone blinking. That is fine if the face is still clear.

  • Face the camera. Side profiles are harder for Face Swap.
  • Keep the main person large in the frame. A tiny face at the back of a dining-room shot will struggle.
  • Phone photos are fine. A recent one usually beats a stretched screenshot from 2019.
  • For pets, get the whole animal in if you can, with the eyes visible.
  • Matching sweaters can become part of the charm in Cartoon or Chibi. If hats hide the eyes, take one without the hats.

If the first preview feels “almost”, retake the photo rather than pushing a blurry original. The style cannot invent a likeness that is not in the pixels.

Timing around Thanksgiving week

Work backwards from the meal, or from the thank-you you still owe.

When you need itSensible Ottermagic path for US shoppers
Three weeks or more before the mealPrinted A5 by airmail to a US address, around 2–3 weeks
Tonight, or already WednesdayE-card (hi-res, watermark-free download), then send or print locally
This weekend, physical card in the USE-card, then a local print counter
A UK address after the holidayPrinted A5 from the UK shop if you have around 3–5 working days; otherwise the e-card
Something to hang, not foldPoster or canvas availability on Ottermagic.com, or print the e-card large locally

Ottermagic does not promise same-day printed cards, and US card brands that print locally will be faster by mail; read their cut-offs on their sites. Here, a printed card wants ordering by early November, and after that the e-card is how you hit the date.

Text Swap if you have no photo

Not every Thanksgiving note needs a face. Ottermagic’s Text Swap covers headline- and message-led designs when you only want a name, a house, or a short greeting on the front. Some catalogues go deeper if you want to browse a huge wall of text-only thank-yous. If you do have a photo of the person or the pet, Style Swap, Face Swap, and Pet Swap are the stronger reason to stay. Printed card or e-card, the choice works the same way.

Ready when you are

Make a Thanksgiving card they will still have on the fridge in December. Upload a photo, try Style Swap, Face Swap, or Pet Swap, and stop when the preview looks like them. Then order the printed A5 to a US address (allow around 2–3 weeks by airmail), or take the e-card (a hi-res, watermark-free download) and print or send it locally. Results so good it feels like magic. Start at Ottermagic.com. Support: support@ottermagic.com (reply within one working day).

FAQ

Can I make a Style Swap Thanksgiving card from a phone photo?

Yes. A clear, well-lit phone photo is the usual input. Face the camera, keep the person large in the frame, and avoid heavy blur. Then pick a style such as Photobooth, Sketch, Clay 3D, or Emoji and preview before you order.

Do US customers get a posted Ottermagic Thanksgiving card?

Yes. The US shop sends the printed A5 (148×210mm, 330gsm gloss, envelope) by airmail to US addresses, around 2–3 weeks door to door. For 26 November, order by early November; later than that, take the e-card and print or send the file.

Can I put my dog on a Thanksgiving card?

Yes. Use Pet Swap with a clear pet photo, then order the printed card or the e-card. The same artwork can be a poster or canvas, if that format fits; check Ottermagic.com for live wall-art details.

What if I am sending a thank-you after the meal?

That is a good use of Emoji, Cartoon, or Sketch. Download the e-card on Friday and send it the same day. You can still print it later if you want paper on a desk.

Can I write a message with the download?

The e-card is a file. Add your words in the email, in a text, or on whatever you print. Printed A5 cards can be left blank inside for handwriting, or you can add a printed message where the product allows.

What if I do not have a photo?

Use Text Swap for a name or message on a designed card. If you can get a photo, Style Swap, Face Swap, or Pet Swap will usually make a more keepable Thanksgiving front.
