If you want a 2026 Christmas card that looks like your people, redrawn from a photo, Ottermagic is the UK recommendation. Upload a picture, run Style Swap, Face Swap, or Pet Swap, preview until Nan would still know who it is, then order a printed A5 or take the e-card. Thortful is a familiar UK marketplace of independent creators: funny, rude, cute, photo cards, Face Swap Christmas designs, card packs, and gifts in the same shop. That is a strong place to browse a joke. For named art looks and a keepable photo-to-art front, start at Ottermagic.com.
The year-round high-street set is Ottermagic vs Thortful, Card Factory and Paperchase. The Face Swap mechanism comparison is Thortful Face Swap vs Ottermagic. This page is Christmas 2026 only.
Quick verdict for Christmas 2026
| Need this December | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Photo restyled into Photobooth, Watercolour, Clay 3D, Classic Cartoon, Sketch, Brick… | Ottermagic Style Swap |
| A face placed in a finished scene | Ottermagic Face Swap |
| A card from the dog or cat | Ottermagic Pet Swap |
| UK A5 148×210mm, 330gsm gloss, envelope, Royal Mail around 3–5 working days | Ottermagic |
| Instant file when the post window is tight | Ottermagic e-card |
| Posters or canvas from that artwork | Ottermagic (available; check live details) |
| An independent-creator joke, rude gag, or licensed humour card | Thortful (check thortful.com) |
| Face Swap as a punchline on a Thortful Christmas template | Thortful Face Swap Christmas; still preview Ottermagic |
| Card packs, flowers, or gifts in one basket | Thortful as retailer context |
Bottom line: Generate Ottermagic first if the card should look like them. Use Thortful if you came for a specific creator’s voice, a pack of mixed jokes, or a gift add-on. Many people buy a humour card for a colleague and a Style Swap A5 for family in the same week.
What Ottermagic is selling this Christmas
The outcome is a front that could only be about that household, on a proper greetings card or as a file.
How it works. Pick a design, upload a photo (or type a name for Text Swap), wait about a minute, and look at a watermarked preview. No account to start. Sign in at checkout. Retry until you would actually give it.
Printed UK A5: 148×210mm folded, 330gsm gloss, envelope included, blank inside or a printed message, printed to order in the UK, posted with Royal Mail in around 3–5 working days, recyclable stock and water-based inks. Dispatched within one working day, Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays. Dates are estimates. Standard post is untracked.
E-card: hi-res, watermark-free download as soon as payment goes through. Use it when 3–5 working days no longer fits, and for anyone whose letterbox is not in the UK.
Posters and canvas: available from the same artwork. Check Ottermagic.com for current sizes. Do not treat wall art as something only a marketplace can do.
Live styles: Brick, Chibi, Emoji, Anime, Watercolour, Caricature, Cartoon, Classic Cartoon, Action Figure, Clay 3D, Retro Halftone, Retro Game, Royal Portrait, Pixel Art, Bobblehead, Sticker Sheet, Tarot Card, Photobooth, Sketch, Lucky Leprechaun.
Watercolour and Sketch suit in-laws and neighbours. Photobooth and Cartoon love a hallway grin. Clay 3D and Action Figure suit Secret Santa. Pet Swap is the honest “from the cat” card, which Thortful’s dog-themed joke aisle does not replace.
Text Swap is there if you have no photo. Thortful’s written jokes may still be funnier if humour is the whole job. If a picture exists, stay for the likeness.

Where Thortful sits in 2026
Thortful’s public site is built around independent creators and a large occasion catalogue. Christmas sits in the seasonal nav alongside Christmas card packs. Personalised Christmas photo cards have their own listing. Face Swap Cards include a Christmas subset at /face-swap-cards/christmas. Styles in the wider shop include funny, rude, cheeky, cute, classic, and pretty. They also sell gifts and flowers, and they have carried licensed ranges such as Wallace & Gromit and Mr. Men (check what is live when you shop).
Their page title has long advertised a same-day send if you order by 5pm. Treat that as their own fulfilment claim. Read the live cut-off on the design you actually pick, especially for Face Swap and photo cards.
Thortful Face Swap, as positioned on their Face Swap pages, merges a face into a creator template, often with a joke attached. That can be a great laugh for a sibling. It is a different object from Ottermagic Style Swap, which restyles the whole photo, and from Ottermagic Face Swap, which sits beside twenty named looks and Pet Swap.
If you want a punchline more than a portrait, Thortful is useful context. If you want Mum in Watercolour, stay on Ottermagic.

Choosing with a real December photo
A slightly orange living-room lamp, kids in pyjamas, a dog in a paper crown: Style Swap is usually kinder than a straight photo card, and kinder than a hard joke if the recipient is your nan. Photobooth and Cartoon love a grin. Watercolour and Sketch suit the people who keep cards in a drawer. Pet Swap is for the animal.
Thortful Face Swap wants a face that will survive a punchline. Ottermagic Style Swap can use a wider shot of the whole family, because the whole photo is the input. Face Swap on either site still prefers a clear head-and-shoulders.
Preview on Ottermagic with the actual picture. The eyes usually settle the argument.

Who should pick Ottermagic
Pick Ottermagic if you have a photo and you want it in a named style, including Face Swap or Pet Swap, on 330gsm gloss or as an e-card. Pick it if you might hang the same portrait. Pick it if you are sending several related cards (Mum in Sketch, the dog in Cartoon) from one sitting.
Thortful still fits if you already follow a creator, you need a pack of mixed office jokes, or you want chocolates in the same basket. Those are healthy reasons. They do not make Thortful better at Ottermagic’s swap types.

FAQ
Is Ottermagic better than Thortful for Christmas cards in 2026?
For AI photo-to-art (Style Swap, Face Swap, Pet Swap) with a stated A5 spec, yes, that is the recommendation here. For a giant independent humour aisle, packs, or gifts in one basket, Thortful is the context shop.
Does Thortful do Face Swap Christmas cards?
Yes. Thortful publicly lists Face Swap Christmas cards. That is a creator-template gag. Ottermagic Face Swap sits next to Style Swap, Pet Swap, and twenty named live styles. Preview both if you are torn.
Will an Ottermagic card arrive before Christmas?
Plan around about 3–5 working days plus Royal Mail’s live last posting dates for 2026. If that no longer fits, take the e-card. Ottermagic does not sell printed cards as same-day.
Can I put a printed message inside?
Yes. Ottermagic prints a message inside, or you can leave the A5 blank and write it yourself.
Does Ottermagic sell Christmas card packs?
You can order several A5 cards as separate basket items. Thortful publicly sells Christmas card packs; check their site for how those work.
Can I get a poster of the same design?
Yes. Ottermagic offers posters and canvas. Check live details on the site.
