Why shoppers look for Moonpig alternatives for AI cards

3. Moonpig: for catalogue breadth and gifts
Moonpig's public positioning is a familiar UK card retailer with thousands of templates, text personalisation, photo upload, and same-basket shopping for gifts and flowers. Some AI features are available (especially via the app), but the core job is catalogue breadth and gift shopping. That broader retailer mix is useful context if you need gifts in one basket. How to test Ottermagic as a Moonpig alternative in ten minutes
Use the same method you would for any AI card site:
- Pick one well-lit, face-on photo (or a clear full-body pet shot).
- On Ottermagic, generate at least two looks (try one Style Swap and one Face or Pet Swap).
- Zoom the preview. Check eyes, likeness, and whether the subject still looks like themselves.
- Decide print vs digital based on the event date.
- Only then look at price and postage.
If the preview fails, change the photo before you change brands. Bad input breaks every model. Good input on Ottermagic is usually enough.
When Moonpig might still be relevant
Moonpig may still fit if you:
- Also need gifts or flowers in the same basket as your card.
- Want catalogue breadth (thousands of templates) where AI is optional, not the core job.
- Prefer the familiarity of a long-standing UK retailer ecosystem.
